Former Calhoun County courthouse worker pleads guilty to theft

(WDNG) – An Oxford woman and former Calhoun County judicial assistant has pleaded guilty to theft. Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange says 53-year-old Melody Warren has been convicted for second-degree theft.

Warren was indicted by a grand jury in August 2014 on charges she used her position as a judicial assistant to take money from people in District Court instead of turning that money over to the clerk. She pleaded guilty in a Calhoun County courtroom on Thursday.

Warren was given a 31-month suspended sentence, three years of probation and ordered to pay more than $4,100 in restitution.
