Maintenance to Veterans Memorial Parkway will result in lane closures affecting traffic beginnin this weekend. The Alabama Department of Transportation on Tuesday said resurfacing of the parkway–also known as the Anniston Eastern Bypass–between Interstate 20 and Henry Road is scheduled to begin on Sunday, weather permitting.
Lane closures on the bypass between the interstate and the U.S. 78 overpass will last for about a week and are expected to affect each direction of travel, according to the statement. Work will then begin between the overpass and Henry Road and lane closures there are expected to last up to two months.
ALDOT said milling the roadway will occur during overnight hours while paving will occur during the day. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes during the roughly two month project and urged to observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs.
