Cleburne County has become the latest Alabama county to stop issuing marriage licenses in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that says same-sex couples have a fundamental right to marry. Staff at the Cleburne County probate office said by phone on Tuesday that they will no longer issue licenses to any couple, joining roughly one-third of Alabama counties that are out of the marriage business.
