One police officer fired, another resigned after ties to Southern nationalist group revealed

(WDNG) – Two Anniston police officers with ties to an alleged hate group are no longer employed by the city. A statement from Anniston City Hall on Friday says a three-day investigation into Lt. Josh Doggrell and Lt. Wayne Brown has been concluded.

City officials made the decision to terminate Doggrell’s employment and accept Brown’s resignation after an online video surfaced of the annual League of the South conference in 2013. An investigation of the pair by city hall was launched last Wednesday after the Southern Poverty Law Center published an article that featured the video.

Members of the League consider themselves part of a Southern nationalist movement who support a second Southern secession from the federal government. The League of the South is considered a hate group by the SPLC.
