(WDNG) – Anniston police have new information in the death of a child in August. 23-year-old Tyelyn Kay Sanders was arrested on January 12 on three counts of Chemical Endangerment.
Capt. Allen George with the Anniston Police Department says in a statement the woman was arrested after investigators early in January received autopsy results from her infant’s August death. That autopsy reportedly showed methamphetamine in the child’s bloodstream. George says the drugs found in the child’s bloodstream were explained when Sanders admitted to breastfeeding.
Police responded to a residence on August 10 after a four-month old boy was not breathing. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital and no foul play was suspected at the time.
Two other children at the home also tested positive for methamphetamine and have since been removed from the home. George says the case will be presented to a grand jury. Sanders was in the Calhoun County Jail on Friday.
